The 2005 growing season provided moderate rain in spring, good rain at verason (2nd & 4th Feb) and a dry autumn providing ideal ripening conditions.
The fruit was harvested on 19th April 2005. Beaume 13.5
After fermentation, the wine was matured in French oak barrique barrels until bottling in Dec 2006.
The Westgate 2005 Endurance Shiraz is made from fruit grown on mature, 35 years old vines.
Endurance Shiraz is a very elegant style with spicy overtones, rich berry flavours and soft and silky tannins. This style is attributed to the natural aspects of the Grampians Region and the minimal intervention used in the development of the fruit and wine.
What James Halliday had to say about Endurance Shiraz...
“A wonderfully elegant and fragrant medium-bodied wine, with very pure blackberry shiraz fruit, fine tannins and long finish.”
Gold Medal: National Cool Climate Wine Show Bathurst.
